The following review was anonymously sent to me on March 1, 2012:

[Prof Mantel] rarely knows how to answer questions asked in class, and isn't much better in office hours. She basically sticks to her script and can't deviate from it. She calls on people randomly, but tries to not call on you again until everyone else has been called on. If you're not prepared one day, be prepared to be called on the next day. When she calls on you, she often asks very difficult nit-picky questions, and she won't rephrase them. The good thing to remember is that how you do in class has no bearing on what your final grade is.

The final was 15 multiple choice questions, two issue spotters, and if I remember right, a policy question. BUT keep in mind that Mantel did NOT write our final - Prof. Duncan did. We had the same final as another section, with fewer multiple choice questions. Maybe this will change as she becomes more familiar with how to teach.
